Worshipping our awesome God through song has been a hallmark of the Church for thousands of years. Throughout every generation, music has been a powerful way to orient our hearts to the Lord, remember the truth of His character, and be filled with His hope, joy, and peace. This March, as we give thanks to God for 40 wonderful years of Community Bible Church, we will be celebrating the music of our heritage by bringing back some of the most beloved worship songs of the last four decades. We hope you can join us!

Community Bible Church’s 40th anniversary celebration is on March 7th! We are thankful to God for the gift of being a church family for these past 40 years - He has been so faithful, and this celebration is our opportunity to praise Him for all He has done. As we look back at 40 years of God carrying us through the joys and trials that come with living life together on mission for His Kingdom, we also look forward in prayer to what He will do in the future. “For from Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.” - Romans 11:36

As we prepare for the 40th anniversary celebration, we are excited to complete a few projects around the building. Please join us for a work day on Saturday, February 28th, immediately after Men’s Breakfast. If you can’t be there the whole day, that’s totally fine! Come for what you can! We appreciate your help so much.

Our monthly Men’s Breakfast is a great opportunity to get connected with other men at CBC. We enjoy good food, a message, and a time of fellowship. Breakfast is provided.

Join the Board of Elders for an update and discussion about life at CBC! This will include the annual budget report as well as an update about our classroom renovations. There will also be a time for questions. Contact one of our elders if you have any comments or questions prior to the meeting.

Ladies, join us for our new Bible study, “Covenant: From Genesis through Revelation.” This 12-week study led by Karen Boozer begins 2/18 and will meet every Wednesday from 7:00-8:15pm in the youth room.

The thread of Covenant runs from Genesis through Revelation. God enters into a binding agreement with His people and always keeps His promises. Trusting Him as a covenant partner frees us from the bondage of worry and anxiety. This study will give us confidence that our salvation is secure in Christ, bringing us to a deeper sense of gratitude for all he has done for us!

Students, our annual Super Bowl Party is February 8th - invite your friends! If you aren’t a sports fan, we’ll have a ton of other games you can play. We’ll bring the pizza; you bring the snacks! 

Parents: we care about your kids’ hearts and minds. We commit to monitoring commercials and turning the TV off as needed. We will also be playing a group game during the half-time show. For pick up: you can come any time during the game (we know it’s a school night!). Our official end time is 10pm, but we’ll stay for the entire game for anyone who wants to watch to the end. We would ask that all students be picked up by 10:30 pm. Thank you!

Ladies, join us for an annual tradition - an entire morning set aside to commit the new year to the Lord. We will share a continental breakfast together, then spend time praying and journaling both privately and in small groups. Afterword, we’ll enjoy a soup and salad lunch. It is a rich time we hope encourages you! If you’re able, please bring a soup, bread, or salad to share.

Ladies, join us for a 5-week study of the Prayer of Jabez starting January 14th! This study will be led by Margaret Watrous in her home from 10am-12pm on Wednesday through February 11th. Materials will be available at the first meeting. Message Margaret below for the address!

Every Christmas Eve, we come together to orient our hearts to Christ at this important time of remembrance and celebration. We reflect on the many promises of God throughout the Old Testament about the Savior He would send to redeem us, and how He fulfilled every one of those promises in Jesus. Even down to the smallest details, like where the Savior would be born, God fulfilled the prophesies found in the Old Testament in the first advent of Christ. Scripture readings and Christmas hymns are interwoven throughout the service, culminating in our candlelight singing of “Silent Night.” Afterward, we will enjoy a time of fellowship with hot chocolate and Christmas treats. We hope you can join us!

Caroling in the Courtyard has been rescheduled for this Sunday, December 21st! Bring a lawn chair and a cozy blanket, and we’ll roast marshmallows at the firepits set up throughout the courtyard, sip hot chocolate and cider, and sing Christmas carols. Invite your friends, family, and neighbors!

Join us for a day of celebrating the birth of our Savior! This is a great opportunity to invite friends and family!

We’ll join our church family for Caroling in the Courtyard at 5:30, then head to the youth room for a night of holiday fun: tacky Christmas sweater contest, White Elephant gift exchange, and more. Parents, we have been LOVING our new curriculum: The Biggest Story. We’re in Genesis right now, but on December 14th, we will be taking a break from our story to have a special Christmas celebration! This will be a day that points your kids to Jesus and reminds them of how much he loves them. We’ll share the nativity story and have a Christmas-themed craft and game. Your kids won’t want to miss it!

Ladies, our annual Christmas party is Saturday, December 13th, at Mary Ann Sweeney’s house! Bring light supper foods to share, as well as a donation for Dallas Life if you’re able (primary need: adult flip flops for showers, gifts for teens, adult hats/gloves/scarves, and XL, XXL, XXXL long sleeve shirts). Ladies: With the colder months approaching, what could be better than a warm, nourishing bone broth? Join us on November 29th for a bone broth class with Shari Wood in the CBC Fellowship Hall. This is a great opportunity to enjoy something that can easily get lost in a world of technology, busyness, and hurry: the comfort and richness of sharing recipes, stories, and wisdom in the kitchen among friends. The Thanksgiving Potluck is one of our favorite annual traditions as a church family! Those who are able bring a dish or two and we sit down together to enjoy a great meal and give thanks to God for His goodness. After we go back for seconds (or thirds…), we have a time of open-mic sharing, which is an opportunity for people of all ages to share how God has demonstrated His faithfulness to them over the past year. There is no pressure to share whatsoever. Whether you sit back and soak in the words of those around you, or decide to share something yourself, this event has one goal: to give God all glory, honor, and praise!

Baptism is an important and exciting step in the life of a follower of Jesus! Join us immediately following the service Sunday, November 16th, in the fellowship hall to celebrate baptism as a church family. If you would like to learn more about baptism, please contact a pastor below!

Ladies, join us for our annual Fall Brunch! This is an event we look forward to every year. Not only is it an opportunity to enjoy delicious fall brunch food and grow in our friendships as sisters in Christ, but it’s also an intentional time to pause before the holiday season kicks into high gear and celebrate the goodness of God, reorienting our hearts to Him and giving Him thanks for all He is and all He has done for us! This year’s speaker is Karen Boozer, and you will be blessed by her message of encouragement. Childcare is provided (please register for childcare by Wednesday, November 5th). Invite your friends, family, and neighbors, and bring a dish to share!

Our greatest desire at CBC is to love God, love others, and make disciples of Jesus Christ. We want to extend the kindness of Jesus to our neighbors, meeting them right where they are and inviting them into a relationship with us and with our Savior. Though it can be intimidating to talk to people you don’t know, we invite you to say yes to how God might want to use you in the life of a person He created and deeply loves. We keep things casual through grilling hot dogs, handing out water bottles and chips, making conversation with people who want to enjoy a free meal or snack, and being a light for Jesus in whatever way the Holy Spirit moves us to! Even if you’ve never done anything like this, we’d love to have you. There is no pressure to be perfect, just to be a warm, friendly presence. You can help us serve food and watch/learn from others! You might be surprised at the connections you make with our neighbors - you may even get a chance to step out in boldness and share the best news in the world: the Gospel of Jesus. We surround this time with prayer, show up in faith, and leave the results to God. Please join us!

Mark your calendars for our annual Fall Festival! This event is for all ages, and we encourage you to invite your neighbors and friends (we’ll have flyers available at the church on 10/12 - we’d love for you to take a stack to pass out!). There will be games, candy, prizes, food, a cake walk, etc - all FREE! Dress up in a costume if you’d like, and we’ll see you there!

CBC family: If you’re able to volunteer, that would be a huge blessing! This is a large-scale event that is an outreach to the community, and we have several ways you can serve: run a booth, work in the kitchen, help with set up/tear down, bring a cake for the cake walk, donate candy, etc. Volunteer below!
